Abstract

Widening the detection bandwidth to acquire several spectral aliases unlocks a lower shot noise limit in dual-comb spectroscopy. This occurs while the power spectral density in all measurements respects the 2qI limit imposed by the semi-classical photodetection model, leading to the need to rethink the commonly accepted shot noise limit in Fourier transform spectroscopy.
