Abstract
This paper outlines the current regulatory situation in the UK and BTʼs open access operating model. It presents BTʼs current FTTP architecture and design giving details of the interconnection points for unbundling purposes at Ethernet level as well as the components making the design future proof. All these aspects, along with the expected increase in bandwidth demand and application areas, are drivers for BTʼs key requirements of future NG-PON2 systems.
