Abstract

Many lessons were learned from building experimental deformable mirrors with many hundreds of actuators. The design of the next generation large aperture component is discussed in terms of those lessons and previously undisclosed developments which include a 28 volt actuator stack with redundant segments and a hybrid driver compatible with multiplexed operation.
