Abstract

The first mirror involving this stacked array technology was the 52 actuator adaptive mirror1 dedicated to the "COME ON PLUS" project2. It was built in 1990 and was an experimental achievement; our aims were: - to get about 50 actuators on a 70 mm aperture and it was not possible with the previous technology used for the 19 actuator mirror of the "COME ON" project3, - to get a cheaper technology, - to be able to extrapolate this technology to a few hundred actuator mirrors.
