Abstract

Zonal regularization for minimum-variance wavefront reconstruction is derived for approximately Kolmogorov turbulence statistics. The formulation yields sparse matrices and is reminiscent of strain energy relationships. Comparisons with Kolmogorov-optimal regularization are made using Zernike polynomials.
