Directional Detection of Laser Ultrasonic via Single-Crystal TWM Configuration

Abstract

Original configuration for adaptive directional detection of laser induced ultrasonic signals using Two-Wave Mixing (TWM) in a single photorefractive sample is proposed. Preliminary results on experimental verification of this technique for detection of compression and shear waves in Al plate using Bi12SiO20 (BSO) photorefractive crystal at λ = 532nm are presented.
