Abstract

We present a theoretical and experimental analysis of the performance of a double-pass transmission-mode scanning optical confocal microscope that uses a photorefractive phase conjugating mirror. The incorporation of a phase conjugating mirror greatly simplifies the alignment and improves the resolution of the microscope when thick, inhomogeneous samples are observed with it.
