Abstract

We report a sol-gel silica waveguide for biophotonic sensors. The fist demonstration is simple and novel nano-imprint lithographic method to fabricate Bragg grating in a sol-gel silica optical waveguide with high resolution of 250 and 90 nm. The sol-gel waveguide doped with green fluorescent protein detects organophosphorus compound, in which the fabricated Bragg grating would improve the sensitivity when the resonator enables lasing for the green fluorescent light. The second demonstration is Mach-Zehnder sol-gel silica waveguide on which an antibody of influenza virus is attached to detect H1N1/HA1 virus.
