FLASHLAMP-PUMPED LASING OF CHROMIUM GSGG

Abstract

Lasing action in chromium-doped gadolinium scandium gallium garnet (Cr:GSGG) is well established for both CW(1) and flashlamp(2) pumping. This paper describes an investigation of flashlamp-pumped Cr:GSGG lasers and indicates some of the factors which limit performance.
