Abstract

The renewed interest in development of vibronic tunable lasers has brought new activity in materials field, namely, into crystal growth of new, and sometimes not so new, laser host crystals. A number of oxide crystals such as alexandrite, emerald, various garnets, and tungstates were proposed to be used, were used, or are being tested along with fluoride based materials (l),(2),(3).
