New Laser Material Research and Development

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

There have been a number of recent advances in both tunable and fixed-frequency solid state lasers. Under the category of tunable lasers we discuss efforts to find new systems based on the Ti3+ ion as well as to further develop the technology of the Ti:Al2O3, laser. For the latter system, we present data on a pulsed ring laser suitable for injection seeding and on the construction of Nd:YLF pump lasers capable of generating energetic pulses several hundred nsec in duration.
