Abstract

Among the numerous discoveries of new tunable laser materials in the past few years, Cr3 + doped ScBO3 showed promise as a practical laser[1]. Its lasing range of 787-892 nm fills a spectral region complementary to the more developed alexandrite. The broad absorption bands and the 115 us fluorescence lifetime make it an ideal candidate for flashlamp-pumped laser operation.
