Abstract

The optical properties of trivalent promethium (Pm3+) in dielectrics have been reported in very few systems.1-3 This is due to the difficulties associated with acquiring and handling Pm3+-doped materials, since Pm is radioactive, with all isotopes possessing short (<20yr) half-lives.
