Abstract
We report the first demonstration of an infrared parametric oscillator employing a commercially produced AgGaSe2 crystal (Cleveland Crystals). Tunable output from 2.9 to 6.8 µm was obtained using a non-cryogenic Ho:YLF pump laser. OPO performance, optical properties and damage susceptibility of this commercially-produced material were investigated. Comparison with previous results on AgGaSe2 crystals grown at the Stanford Center for Materials Research suggest that good quality AgGaSe2 crystals should soon become available commercially for both OPC and SHG applications.
