Efficient Frequency Doubling of a Diode-Pumped 946-nm Nd:YAG Laser

Abstract

We report on the generation of 9 mW of blue 473-nm radiation by intracavity frequency doubling of a diode-laser-pumped 946-nm Nd: YAG laser. Potassium niobate was used for second-harmonic generation at room temperature. Optimization of the length of the Nd: YAG laser crystal lead to substantial improvement of the blue output over previous results.
