Abstract

Medical application of 3 μm laser radiation stimulates intensive search of new erbium doped crystals. Gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) is the interesting host for erbium. Stimulated emission of Er3+ ions at 4I11/24I13/2 transition in GGG was studied earlier by Kaminskii A.A. [l], but obtained results (laser wavelength and threshold) are not enough to make conclusions on potentialities of this active medium in lasers. In this paper we report on investigations of spectroscopic and laser properties of Er:GGG, Er,Ce:GGG and Er,Ce,Cr:GGG Czochralski grown crystals.
