Abstract

The spectroscopic model of a doping center - Cr4+ ion, occupying tetrahedral site of YAG-lattice (Cr4+) is developed by the polarizing spectroscopy investigations of Cr,Me2+-doped YAG single crystals and the calculation of energy levels for an electron configuration d2 in a crystal field of Dzd point group symmetry. New crystals: SrAl2O4 and CaAl2O4, containing tetrahedrally coordinated Cr4+ ions, are introduced.
