150-fs Mode-Locked Pulses from Cr3+:LiSrAlF6 and Cr3+:LiSr0.8Ca0.2AlF6

Abstract

We report the first demonstration of cw mode- locked operation of wavelength tunable Cr3+- doped LiSrAlF6 and LiSr0.8Ca0.2AlF6 lasers pumped by a cw krypton laser. By incorporating an acousto-optic modelocker and using an intracavity two prism sequence for dispersion compensation, pulses of 150fs duration were directly produced from both lasers.
