Abstract

External frequency conversion of cw mode locked radiation of a Ti:sapphire laser allows for the generation of tunable subpicosecond pulses in the uv and blue spectral region. By means of second, third and fourth harmonic generation the wavelength range from 190 nm up to 525 nm can be covered, in principle. At a repetition rate of 82 MHz average powers of up to 10 mW, 150 mW and 700 mW have been obtained for the fourth, third and second harmonic radiation, respectively.
