Abstract
End-pumped by a frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser, a slope efficiency of 82.5%, with energies in. excess of 60 mJ per pulse, at 571 nm was obtained from a pyrromethene-BF2 complex dye doped in a modified acrylic plastic laser rod. Greater than 20,000 shots, with only 34% degradation, has been demonstrated at output energies > 30 mJ from a 4-mm diameter by 1.5-cm long cylindrical section.
