Abstract
We report a set of measurements on flashlamp pumped YSGG, GSAG, YSAG and YAG crystals doped with chromium, thulium and holmium. Near- room-temperature laser operation was characterized by measuring laser output parameters, thermolensing and heat generation. The analysis of the results shows the way to optimize the active medium for 2-μm lasing.
