Abstract

A flashlamp pumped Nd:YAG laser operating at 1.444μm with 1.3% overall efficiency is reported. A maximum average output power of 100W at a repetition rate of 20Hz and a pulse duration of 0.65ms was achieved. The 1.444μm performance as well as the output characteristics at 1.064μm and 1.32μm of Nd:YAG were investigated for different pump cavity reflectance materials and spectral filters as a function of doping concentration and rod diameter. Furthermore, the results obtained with Nd:YAP are presented.
