Abstract

A KTP crystal in the normal orientation has been successfully operated as a Q-switch. The experiment was performed in a cw-pumped, Nd:YLF laser resonator. A pulselength of ~ 100 ns was obtained at a repetition rate of 1 KHz. Temperature tuning and intracavity wavelength selective components were employed to obtain Q-switching action. To our best knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a KTP Q-switch.
