Abstract
Diode-pumped fiber array lasers containing micro-optical components have been investigated. Advanced schemes concerning the optimization of the performance of two pumping schemes for which the fiber laser arrangement is adapted to the pumping diode laser array in side-on or end-on geometries are presented. We investigated microlenses and graded micro-mirrors appropriately designed for these requirements.
We report on short and compact diode pump schemes. 70% of the emittied pump power of the diode bar have been absorbed in an active multimode fiber by end-on pumping. Laser emission at 1.053 μm close to diffraction limited performance and nearly independent on the pump power has been obtained.
