Abstract
Issues associated with solid-state dye laser development such as rod longevity, beam divergence, resonator length, dye bleaching, and thermal lensing were investigated. The design of a 7-cm long, solid-state dye laser demonstrating an output energy of 80 mJ within a 10 mm-mrad divergence beam is discussed.
