Abstract
Pulses of ~ 100 fs have been generated by a synchronously pumped Cr:YAG laser in a conventional cavity configuration. A self-starting KLM Cr:YAG laser has generated pulses as short as 53 fs duration. The pumping requirements of Cr:YAG lasers have been investigated to aid development of compact, diode-pumped systems.
