Abstract

Spectroscopy, x-ray crystallography, and lifetime data reveal different structures and number of sites for hydrothermal- and Czochralski-grown Nd3+:KLiYF5, a low threshold laser crystal. Temperature-dependent effects for intersite energy transfer are discussed.
