Abstract

The interest in solid state lasers based on Pr3+ is due to the fact that Pr3+ offers many transitions in the visible and near infrared spectral region [1]. We studied for the first time to our knowledge the optical absorption and fluorescence of Pr3+-doped Y2SiO5 (YSO), Gd2SiO5 (GSO), La2Be2O5 (LBO), and KGd(WO4)2 (KGW). The Stark level diagram was obtained and interpretation of the optical transitions was made.
