Abstract

Pump-induced absorption measurements were performed on V3+:YAG with picosecond temporal resolution. Transient ESA bands at 870 nm and 720 nm were assigned to transitions from the 1E(1d) level of tetrahedral V3+. The lifetime of the 1E(1D) excited state was determined to be 130 ps.
