Crystal growth and optical properties of yttrium calcium oxyborate YCa4O(BO3)3

Abstract

Yttrium calcium oxyborate, YCa4O(BO3)3 has been grown and investigated as a nonlinear optical material. This crystal is phase-matchable for second- and third-harmonic generation of a Nd:YAG laser at 1.064 μm. Furthermore, we could tune the noncritical phase-matching wavelength of GdxY1-xCa4O(BO3)3 by changing the compositional parameter x.
