Abstract
Neodymium doped Y3GaxAl(5_x)O12 (YGAG) materials are investigated for their usefulness as compositionally tuned laser materials. Detailed spectroscopy indicates that the mixed garnet, Nd:YGAG, can be compositionally tuned to operate at 0.94411 μm, corresponding to a H2O DIAL feature of special interest. Inhomogeneous broadening effects are examined. Laser operation of Nd:Y3Ga1.35Al3.65O12 has been demonstrated and characterized.
