Comparison of diode pumped Tm3+ doped silicate lasers

Abstract

Laser performances of diode pumped Tm3+ doped Ca2Al2SiO7 (CAS), Y2SiO5 (YSO) and SrY4(SiO4)3O(SYS) at different operating temperatures are reported. For Tm:YSO a broad tunability in the 1.93 μm - 2.07 μm range is obtained. Laser behavior is analyzed in correlation with the thermal and spectroscopic properties of the laser materials.
