Measurements of thermal lensing in line-focus end-pumped Nd:YAG slabs

Abstract

The thermal lensing in a Nd:YAG crystal slab end-pumped with a beam brought to a lhe focus is profiled. The thermal lens strengths for absorbed pump powers of up to 12 W are measured. Implications for lasers built around this end-pumped confguration are discussed.
