Abstract
We report on laser emission in a new laser material, namely highly Nd3+-ion doped YAG developed as ceramics. In an only polished Nd:YAG ceramics chip (4.8 at.%) single mode oscillation of ~213mW at a slope efficiency of 17.6% was obtained. The threshold pump power was ~335mW. For a 9.1 at.% doped sample an effective absorption coefficient of 32.6 cm−1 was measured.
