Abstract

An end-pumped solid-state intracavity Raman laser operating at 1.178µm is presented. A total output power of 480 mW was achieved with 6 ns pulses at 10 kHz. Reducing the pulse repetition rate below 10 kHz resulted in cascaded conversion of the first Stokes to second Stokes at 1.320 µm. When the system is operated at 8 kHz, 62 mW of second Stokes radiation is produced in 2 ns pulses. Both the first and second Stokes output were frequency doubled with a NCPM LBO crystal to achieve 250 mW and 29 mW of 589 nm and 660 nm, respectively.
