Quasi-cw laser oscillation of Yb,Ho:YSGG at 3 μm under laser-diode excitation

We present quasi-continuous wave laser oscillation at 2975nm on the 6I7—>7Ie transition of Ho3+ in Yb3+,Ho3+:Y3Sc2Ga3O12 under laser-diode excitation at 975nm. Maximum output pulse energy was 10mJ at a repetition rate of 15Hz. Spectroscopic investigations and laser experiments with different Yb3+ concentrations and additional Eu3+ codoping are presented.
