Abstract

We investigate the spectroscopic features of the 900 nm emission bands of Nd:GdCOB and Nd: YCOB in order to achieve blue laser sources by self frequency doubling. The polarized absorption and emission spectra are given. A Judd Ofelt analysis was performed to determine theoretical fluorescence lifetime. We also present configurations for the self frequency doubling of the near IR emission.
