Efficient, single pass blue conversion of a diode pumped, CW 946nm Nd:YAG laser with bulk periodically poled KTP

Abstract

15mW at 473 nm was obtained by frequency doubling, in a single pass configuration, a diode end-pumped 946 nm Nd:YAG laser with a 1cm long, bulk periodically-poled KTP crystal. This corresponds to a conversion efficiency of 1.5%/W-cm. At Q-switched operation 150mW of blue light was obtained, with conversion efficiency of 36%.
