Broadly Tunable Laser Emission from Tm:Y2O3 and Tm:Sc2O3 at 2µm

Abstract

Laser oscillation was realized in Tm:Y2O3 and Tm:Sc2O3 pumped with laser diodes. Peak emission cross sections are 8.8 10-2lcm2 at 1933nm in Y2O3 and 8.4 10-21cm2 at 1992nm in Sc2O3. The emission wavelength could be tuned between 1930nm and 2090nm in Tm:Y2O3 and up to 2160nm in Tm:Sc2O3.
