Demonstration and power scaling of edge-pumped zig-zag slab lasers

We have generated 127 W with 42% optical efficiency in a Nd:YAG edge-pumped, conduction-cooled, zig-zag slab laser. Based on this result, we present power scaling calculations which predict efficient operation up 100 kW power levels in Yb:YAG.
