Abstract

Lasing in Nd:NaYF4 has been demonstrated at 1.058 µm with up to 60 mW output power and a slope efficiency of 21%. Polarization-dependent measurements of both absorption and emission cross section were made and suggest that this material may have advantages over existing Nd lasers for some applications.
