Abstract

We present the first energy scaling step of an ultrafast Yb:YAG thin disk laser operated in a pressure-controlled nitrogen environment. We obtained 29.6 μJ pulse energy in 780-fs pulses at 105 W of average power, corresponding to a record-high 33.3 MW of output peak power.
