Coherent Supercontinuum Generation in the Optical Event Horizon

Abstract

We demonstrate a novel scheme for generation of broadband white-light continua with superior coherence properties in photonic crystal fibers by two-pulse scattering at a refractive index barrier. These continua enable compression close to the single-cycle regime.
