Terahertz filters using photonic crystals in air gap of tapered parallel-plate waveguide

We report an experimental and simulation study of terahertz (THz) low-pass and notch filters by using slits and grooves inside tapered parallel-plate waveguide (TPPWG) with TEM mode. When the air gap between the metal plates of the TPPWG is controlled, a tunable THz notch filter can be obtained.
