Cutting of Transparent Materials by Tailored Absorption

Abstract

Ultrashort pulse lasers allow for processing of transparent materials by nonlinear absorption. We report on tailoring the absorption inside the glass volume for cutting applications. The influences of moving breakdown, accumulation and incubation effects are discussed.
