Difference-frequency generation of picosecond pulses in the mid-IR using an Yb-fiber pump system and AgGaSe2

Abstract

We employ AgGaSe2 for difference-frequency generation between signal and idler of a synchronously-pumped picosecond OPO at 80 MHz achieving continuous tuning from 5 to 18 μm with average power of 140 mW near 6 μm.
