Abstract

A single longitudinal mode Tm:YAP laser at 1938 nm is demonstrated. For the first time to the best of our knowledge, it is passively Q-switched with a Cr:ZnSe saturable absorber, and delivers 170 μJ pulses of 36 ns duration at a 100 Hz repetition rate. This linearly polarized source has been ruggedly and compactly packaged within a 220×150×50 mm footprint.
