High gain low temperature active mirror Yb:YAG laser amplifier qualification

Abstract

Gains as high as 20 for a 77mm ceramic Yb:YAG disks are recorded in the 80-200K temperature range on a laser amplifier cooled through a static low pressure helium gas cell operated in the 1 to 10 Hz regime.
