Optimization of diode-side-pumped, passively Q-switched Yb:LuAG slab laser

Abstract

We demonstrate optimization of passively Q-switched Yb:LuAG laser. Pulse energy of 10.1 mJ corresponding to peak power of 2.5 MW was achieved. Above 100 mJ with 23% efficiency in free-running operation was obtained.
