High energy sub-nanosecond thulium-doped all-fibre laser based on a rod-type photonic-crystal fibre amplifier

Abstract

We report a thulium-doped fibre amplified mode-lock laser at 1950 nm using a large mode area rod-type PCF for reaching up to 120 µJ energy at 50 kHz repetition rate and 520 ps pulses duration.
